Jack and Dawn were introduced to us through a trusted recommendation — the kind of introduction that often leads to the most meaningful projects. Their vision was clear from the start: a refined outdoor living space where a covered structure, a grand fireplace, a fully integrated kitchen, and a welcoming bar would come together to create something they could share with their children and friends for years to come.
They already had a deck. What they were looking for was an elevation — a more intentional and beautiful way to experience the outdoors, where time spent outside felt as considered and comfortable as anything inside the home.
With their vision in hand, we developed a series of design concepts, each one curated to reflect their lifestyle and the character of their property. In the end, they chose the design that felt most genuinely theirs.
At the heart of the finished space stands the fireplace — a striking focal point built entirely in custom masonry and wrapped in elegant natural stone. Generous in scale and refined in every detail, it was designed not only for beauty but for presence. Flanked by built-in wood storage, it holds the space with both strength and sophistication.
Above, the ceiling features two chandeliers paired with ceiling fans, creating a layered composition that feels luxurious without being heavy. As evening settles in, carefully positioned lighting enhances every architectural line, allowing the space to transition naturally into a warm, ambient retreat.
The seating area invites stillness — a place to sit, unwind, and let the quiet rhythm of the fire set the pace of the evening.
The bar was designed with function and elegance in equal measure. It offers generous storage, a built-in beverage refrigerator, and ample seating — perfectly suited for hosting, gathering, and celebrating the moments that make everyday life meaningful.
A grand extended staircase connects the existing deck to the new living space below. Framed on both sides by custom masonry planters and softly illuminated from beneath, the descent becomes more than a transition — it becomes an experience in itself.
What began as a simple deck has become something far more. A curated outdoor environment where evenings feel longer, conversations happen naturally, and the people who matter most always have a place to gather.
