Perched along the peaceful waters of Dagsboro Bay, this outdoor living environment was thoughtfully designed and built for the Browne family — a project rooted in the desire to create a refined retreat where beauty, comfort, and family life could come together in one harmonious place.
The work began where it had to: with the land itself. We engineered and constructed a custom retaining wall to provide the necessary structural support while shaping the landscape for everything that would follow. It was the foundation upon which the entire environment was built.
At the heart of the design sits an elegant swimming pool, framed by a beautifully finished paver patio selected for both its durability and its timeless character. Integrated storage was incorporated directly into the design — a practical detail that allows pool toys, towels, cushions, and outdoor essentials to stay organized and within reach without disrupting the visual quality of the space.
A fully equipped covered outdoor kitchen anchors the entertaining area, allowing meals to be prepared while remaining fully connected to the activity and atmosphere surrounding the pool. Adjacent to the kitchen, a generous dining area gathers family and guests beneath a custom architectural structure — sheltered from the sun while remaining open to the outdoors.
As the day moves toward evening, the atmosphere naturally shifts. The fire pit becomes the center of the space — an intimate setting to unwind after a swim, slow the pace of the evening, and enjoy conversation while the bay settles into stillness beyond.
A custom putting green introduces a playful dimension to the retreat, offering an activity that can be enjoyed across every generation of the Browne family — from the youngest to the most competitive.
Subtle architectural lighting completes the environment, allowing the space to remain warm, inviting, and beautifully illuminated long after the sun goes down. Carefully selected outdoor furniture rounds out the setting — refined in appearance, comfortable in use, and chosen to complement the overall character of the space.
The result is an outdoor retreat built for the way this family actually lives — where a swim, a shared meal, a round of putting, and an evening by the fire can all happen in one beautifully considered environment, right at the edge of the bay.
